The Los Alamitos Griffins Cheerleading squad captured first place in the very first CIF-Southern Section sanctioned cheerleading competition. They beat out Edison, Chino Hills and Alemany.
Girls Soccer: Los Alamitos 2, Corona Del Mar 1
The No. 2 ranked Los Alamitos Girls Soccer team stayed undefeated and improved their record to 19-0-3 by downing Corona Del Mar 2-1 on the visitors’ field Tuesday night
Tabitha LaParl scored her 22nd goal of the season early in the contest, finishing a free kick from Jayden
Los Al reurns to play with a home \match against Edison on Thursday.
Girls BB: Corona Del Mar 36, Los Al 33
The Griffins were ranked No. 1 in the Long Beach area and No. 8 in Orange County, going into the contest. With the loss, their record drops to 17-6 overall, 1-1 in Surf League play.
Junior point guard Sydney Gandy led Los A with 10 points. Gandy got some consolation by earlier being named to OC Register reporter Dan Albano’s Top 5 players of the week.
They return to action with a home game against Edison on Thursday.
Water Polo: Griffins fall 7-6 to No. 1 Laguna Beach.
It was a loss, but an impressive showing nonetheless when the Los Alamitos High Griffins girls water polo team fell 7-6 to Laguna Beach, the top-ranked team in Orange County and the nation.
Los Alamitos got three goals from senior Katie Dvonch, and freshman Lindsey Harris added two. Goalie Tara Debrabander (left) was huge in the net with eight saves, including a blocked penalty shot.
