Rick is one of the best all-around basketball players to ever wear the Griffins blue and red. As a sophomore in 1969-70, he helped lead the Griffins, playing in only their second Varsity season, to the CIF quarterfinals. In his junior and season season, he was the team’s leading scorer and rebounder and in 1972 he led Los Al to the CIF 4-A semi-finals. In 1972 he earned All-CIF and All-County honors and was the Irvine League’s MVP.

His school career scoring record of 1,229 points stood for twenty years and his rebounding record of 890 stood for 36. years until broken in 2008.

Quinn then played two season at Cypress College where he was named the teams MVP both season and then played for San Jose State. After two solid season for the Spartans, Quinn traveled the world with the Harlem Globetrotters organization, playing on their opponents.
