The United States women’s volleyball national team won the Pan American Cup title on Sunday with a 3-0 sweep of the Dominican Republic, and Los Alamitos alum (Class of ’13) Justine Wong-Orantes was awarded the tourney’s Best Libero award.
The tournament, which was played in Trujillo, Peru, is a tune-up for the upcoming Pan-American Games. Wong-Orantes, who was also an All-America and national champion at the University of Nebraska, was one of two former Huskers who had an outstanding tournament. Kadie Rolfzen was named the Pan Am Cup’s best attacker, posting double-digit kills in three of the five matches she played in. Wong-Orantes was voted the best libero. She had a match-high 19 digs in the title match.
