The Los Alamitos Griffins football team turned in their second straight strong win, coasting to a 49-13 win over the Banning Pilots at Veterans Stadium in Long Beach.
The Griffins, wearing spiffy new USA-themed uniforms and ranking No. 10 in Division 2 thanks to their upset win over Long Beach Poly a week ago, took the opening kickoff and went 65 years down the field on seven straight running plays for a touchdown. Jaiden Mitchell’s 11-yard run capped the drive off.
From there, the Griffins’ defense took over, shutting down Banning to allow the Griffin offense to start its remaining six drives of the first half in Banning territory.
