Former Los Alamitos Mayor Troy Edgar has been nominated by the Trump Administration to be the Chief Financial Officer for the Department of Homeland Security.
The new job has been an open secret around Los Alamitos for some time, with delays being credited to the recent government shutdown. Edgar has been involved with local defense officials for some time in his position as a local elected official which is home to the JHoint Forces Training Base, but he got on the national radar during the city’s “sanctuary city” controversy last Spring.
Edgar was a Los Alamitos City Councilman for 12 years and has served as Mayor three of those years. The job will mean a major drop in salary for the former serviceman, as he will step away from a consultancy business that has earned him a number of reorganization and consolidation contracts with very large national companies.

Edgar is the president, chief executive and founder of Global Conductor Inc. He also has worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC, Boeing and was chief financial officer for the Military Transport Aircraft Product Support division of the McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Co.
