The Los Alamitos Boys volleyball team won seven straight matches to capture the championship at the Redondo Union HS Pre-Season tournament this past weekend.
The Griffins, who improved their record to 10-2 on the season, swept Friday night’s pool play action, downing Carson and Warren 2-0 before knocking off the pool’s top seed, Thousand Oaks, 2-1.
Their first place pool finish advanced the boys to the 16-team Gold Division elimination brackets (top two teams from each pool) where they dispatched Peninsula 2-0, host Redondo Union 2-1, Palos Verdes 2-1 and then put away Servite 2-1 in the championship game.
