The Los Al Baseball team picked up a 10-4 win against Fountain Valley in the first of two games this week against the Barons. Nathan Dowdell and Jacob Evans each had three hits for the Griffins. Matthew Wurmlinger pitched six strong innings to get the win, with Jason Reid closing out the seventh.
Tuesday’s win at Fountain Valley improved Los Al’s overall mark to 9-6-1, and 3-3 in the Surf League. All three losses came to Huntington Beach (ranked No. 3 in the OC). Los Al (which is ranked No. 21) plays a non-league game against former league rival Esperanza tonight at Anaheim Stadium. Game time is 6pm. Attendance and parking are free. Then the Griffins finish their series against Fountain Valley with a home game on Friday.
SOFTBALL
The Griffins downed Marina 9-3 to improve to 1-1 in the Surf League standings. That loss came last week to Surf League rival Huntington Beach.
Los Al opens play today in the Michelle Carew Classic which returns after a two-year absence and features a slate of top teams.
Los Al kept its spot as the top team in the Press-Telegram Top 10 teams, but fell out of the Top 10 in the CIF-Southern Section Division I softball rankings.
In other Los Al sports action, the Girls Beach volleyball team racked up another win today, downing Marina 4-1. Los Al, which is now 5-1 on the season, next hosts Edison this Thursday on the 4th Street courts in Seal Beach.

Boys Golf, Los Al defeated Laguna Beach 184-216.
And it was a tough day for the Girls Lacrosse team which fell to Newport Harbor 16-4.
