GRIFFIN SPORTS: CIF Soccer Playoff Brackets announced for Los Al HS Girls and Boys

The CIF Southern Section announced its bracket pairings for their post-season soccer playoffs, with the No. 2 seed Los Alamitos High girls hosting Long Beach Wilson on Wednesday and the Boys team traveling to University High of Irvine on Thursday.

Second round games will be played on Friday and Saturday.

The Surf League champion Griffin girls, who finished the season with a 21-0-5 mark open Division I play against the Lions who finished third in the Moore League with a 11-4-7 mark. The winner would advance to play the survivor of the Hart-El Dorado match on Friday.

The top four seeds in the girls Division I side were JSerra (15-0-3, Trinity league champions), Los Alamitos, Upland (18-1-0, Baseline League champions), and Villa Park (North Hills league champion). All four Surf league teams qualified with Edison (11-7-4) and Huntington beach (11-7-8) receiving the only two at-large berths.

The boys soccer team, which earned the Surf League’s 2nd automatic berth thanks to a golden goal 2 OT win on Wednesday will pit their 13-9-4 mark against University’s 13-2-3 record. University was the champions of gthe Pacific Coast League. The winner will meet the survivor of the Mater Dei -Capistrano Valley match up.

The top four seeds in Boys Division I were Loyola (23-1-2, Mission League champs), Cathedral (18-2-2, Del Rey League champions), Mira Costa (18-0-3, Bay League champion), and Servite (13-2-7, Trinity League champions).
