GRIFFIN SPORTS: Girls Basketball falls in South Coast finals; Boys and Girls soccer in Aliso Cup action

The Los Al Girls BB team gave it a great try against an Australian powerhouse and came up short at the South Coast finals and the Griffins boys soccer team won two games to advance to the finals of their bracket at the Boys Aliso Cup tournament.

Los Alamitos doesn’t back down to girls basketball powerhouse, but falls in South Coast Classic final

On boys soccer side, Los Al rebounded from a tough late loss on Friday against Hart by downing El Dorado 1-0 and Bell Gardens 2-1 and earning a spot in todays Governors Cup final against Laguna Hills.   The game will be played at 3pm at the Laguna Niguel SKate & Soccer Park.  
   Los Al’s record on the year is 2-1-1.

The Girls Soccer team which opened its season last week with an impressive 4-0 win over Cypress,  (see video below) hopes to notch its second win when it hosts Millikan at 5pm on the Los Al turf. 
     The Lady Griffins will try to make it two Aliso Girls Cup Championships in a row when they begin play tomorrow with a match at home against Northwood.   The Lady Griffins then travel to Trabuco Hills on Thursday.   Bracket play continues next Saturday.  

Season Opener 2018/19 Season! Alyssa to Colby to Alyssa to Maddie to Alyssa for First Goal of season at 25th minute for 1-0 lead. Great Teamwork Girls and nice finish with outside of foot score! Nicole gets a ball with her speed then dishes off to Tabbie for a sweet goal in 44th minute. Awesome assist and finish! Tabbie gets a second goal on a signature DK strike for 3-0 lead at 49th min and Analisa with Colby gets a corner into box that pops out and Maddie Ried jukes 2 Cypress players in tight quarters to make space and deliver a backbreaker goal with a solid strike with her leather left for a 4-0 lead at the 63rd minute. Big thanks to impressive crowd, especially from the Boys soccer team doing the first rollercoaster at a Los Al Soccer game. Thank you to the Football team as well! Go GRIFFINS!!!
