Los Alamitos City Manager Bret Plumlee has submitted his resignation, to be effective August 16.
The announcement was formally made at the City Council meetings Monday night after a closed session report revealed approval for City Development Director Les Johnson to serve for three months as interim City Manager. Council members Shelley Hasselbrink and Mark Chirco were appointed to an ad hoc committee to determine the direction of the search effort for a new City Manager.
Plumlee has been city manager since Oct. 23, 2013. His last day with the city will be on August 16, the Friday before the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Council. He will be moving on to employment with the HdL Company, which currently handles the city’s online business license registration and also provides services as a sales tax consultant. HdL is based in Brea.
