Los Alamitos High School sports teams and art performances will be sidelined indefinitely as a result of coronavirus concerns.
Superintendent Andrew Pulver informed coaches, instructors and the community yesterday morning. But for sports teams, the decision was already made for them as other schools in the Sunset League had already cancelled , so they would have had no one to play. The Huntington Beach district made the decision yesterday morning and their schools include Huntington Beach, Edison, Fountain Valley and Marina. The Laguna Beach and Newport Mesa Districts also had made their decisions at the same time.
But the district, in keeping with the state’s ban on gatherings of over 250 person, had already made the decision late Wednesday to cancel two large arts showcases — this Saturday’s Los Al HS Jazz Spotlight (scheduled for the high school’s Performing Arts Center) and Monday’s District-wide Choral festival which would have been held at the Cottonwood Church Auditorium.
