The Los Alamitos Medical Center is operating a peak capacity for regular hospital beds, according to reports compiled by Patch the online newspaper.

The facility reports that all 146 of its adult inpatient beds are currently occupied by patients, and Covid-19 patients (confirmed and suspected) are using 43 of those beds (30%).

Fortunately, only 12 of the Center’s 17 ICU beds are occupied.  The number of Covid-19 patients in ICU was not reported.  But nationally, that number is around one-third of ICU beds are used by Covid-19 patients.

Nationally, 79% of the nation’s hospital beds are occupied.  That number is 80% for California.  The same figures hold true for overall ICU bed occupancy.
