For the second year in a row, Los Al grads took to the streets and paraded through Rossmoor, reveling in the applause and cheers from the community and former teachers.
The “Seniors on Parade” event was again organized and sponsored by the Rossmoor Homeowners Association, with help from the Shops at Rossmoor, Southland Credit Union and other local businesses.
The nearly 300 cars began gathering and lining up at the Shops at Rossmoor at 10:30, with seniors and family members mingling and catching up and finishing up their car decorations, before the official ceremonies began at noon. After speeches by Superintendent Andrew Pulver, Board President Marlys Davidson and Los Al HS Principal Gregg Stone, the first of the caravan headed west to Montecito, led by VIPs and Valedictorians, and then cut over to Tucker and headed towards Rush Park where former teachers from McGaugh Elementary and Oak Middle School lined the streets along with neighbors to cheer on and celebrate the graduates.
This was followed by trips past Hopkinson, Weaver, Lee, Rossmoor Park (where LAE and McAuliffe teachers gathered) and then Rossmoor School before a home stretch down Silver Fox and Main Way returned the cars to the Shops at Rossmoor.
Key organizers for the RHA were again Jo Shade, Art Remnet and Marian Last.
Other sponsors included Penny McCann relators, Tim Weidenkeller/State Farm Insurance, Rossmoor Living Magazine, and Exposure For You.
The OC Register also has a story with many good photos by local photographer Jeff Gritchen.
