It’s a long path from the stage at the Los Al Performing Arts Center to the Broadway stage and to concfert halls across America, but former Griffin Susan Egan has made the journey seem effortless.
Egan was a familiar in Griffin performing arts productions, first in school choral groups and plays and then in the very first classes for the Orange County High Schooll of the Performing Arts.
From there she moved back to New York where she first earned acclaim as Belle in the Broadway production of Beauty and the Beast (for which she earned a Tony nomination), and then as the voice of Megara, the female lead in the animated Disney hit, Hercules.
Since then she has appeared in many other Broadway productions, including Thoroughly Modern Millie, Cabaret, State Fair and Bye Bye Birdie, as well as many movies and television shows.
Egan also has over 40 recording credits from Broadway cast albums to film soundtracks, including her five critically praised solo CDs, the latest of which is a 2-disc concert album Susan Egan LIVE.
After graduating from Los Al, Egan attended UCLA. In 2002-2003, she devoted a year away from her career to assume the position of interim Artistic Director of the Orange County High School of the Arts. She now spends her time with a full calendar of concerts and makes her home in Los Angeles with her husband, Robert Hartmann, and daughter, Nina.
