No Los Al wide receiver has gained more yardage than Tony Hartley. From 1993 through the 1995 seasons, Hartley hauled in 160 catches for 3,181 yards, still the most in the Los Al career record books, as is his 19.88 yards gained per catch. His 1995 stats of 1,690 yards and a 19.6 average are also single season bests for the Griffins, as well as Orange County single season records. Those stats earned him the LA Times nod as the OC Player of the Year, and also earned him all-state recognition. He was also named to the USA Today 2nd team All-American squad as a defensive back.
Hartley moved to the college game at the University of Oregon without missing a beat or a pass. In his first season he narrowly missed setting the all-time Freshman receiving record. In his junior year he set the Ducks’ all-time single-game receiving mark with 242 yards vs. Washington (10th all-time Pac-10 list). By the time he finished his eligibility Hartley set a career receiving record at the school with 2,744 yards, an effort that also ranks sixth in the Pacific-10 Conference. He also finished two shy of the school records for career receptions and touchdown catches. Hartley had 160 catches and 22 touchdowns.
