Orange County school boards grapple with state’s student mask mandate

With K-12 students prepare to go back to school, and state Public Health requiring students to wear masks in classrooms, the head of the Los Alamitos School Board is advocating a letter campaign by local parents demanding more local control over the student mask requirement.

The issue is contentious with both sides claiming the other is not following the science and acting instead out of fear or politics.   What can’t be denied is that masks negatively impact development due to the inability to observe facial cues.  Are these negatives greater than a potential (if any) measurable positive protective impact of masks.

Spectrum news Joseph Pimental has the story.
