They started the season ranked Number one and finished it that way as the Los Alamitos Griffins softball team, led by pitcher Ryan Denhart, handed unbeaten Norco its first loss of the year, in the CIF Division I championship game at Bill Barber Field in Irvine.
The Maryland bound Denhart threw a three-hitter and was in control for most of the contest, allowing onlyone hit through six innings. In the seventh inning when it looked like Norco might mount a rally, Denhart got the outs when she needed to, with some help from Jenna Kean who ran a long way to haul down a drive to left center field to clinch the contest.
