The Taste for Los Al has momentarily shifted gears and started The Taste for the Frontline that will help our local restaurants by helping our local frontline healthcare workers.
The premise is simple:
- We help our local restaurants by buying a lot of meals
- We then deliver the meals to Frontline Medical workers at Los Alamitos Medical Center.
The Taste donated the initial $6,000 for this and we have started a GoFundMe page to raise additional revenues that, if need requires, could be extended and expanded to include our local fire stations and other healthcare workers manning the frontlines and serving our community during this emergency.
By making large orders from a single restaurant each meal, it gives the restaurant owners time to better plan and staff for that day.
Our initial plan is to purchase two meals a day to feed the shifts at Los Alamitos Medical Center. If we raise enough money we will expand it to include other local emergency healthcare workers serving our community.
In our first week we have purchased and delivered food from Brew Kitchen Ale House, Wahoo’s Fish Tacos, Angelina’s Pizza, Chick Fil-A, Katella Deli and Bakery, Islands, Santa Fe Importers, Hof’s Hut, and Mama’s Comfort Food, with Thailusion, Jersey Mike’s, Crema Cafe, A la Waffle and others coming up.
The original restaurant list is drawn from those who have participated in the Taste for Los Al over the years — donating tons of delicious food to raise revenues to support activities and booster clubs at Los Alamitos High School. But we will also be opening it up to other local restaurants which we know generously donate back to the community in other ways.
