The Seal Beach Chamber announced their new executive Board. Karen Kuns will be inducted as President and Kori DeLeon will be Vice-President. All the new officers and Board will be formally inducted at the September meeting. The meeting will also honor the Chamber’s Business Person of the year and other winners as well.
LAEF’s King and Queen of Hearts, Geoffrey King of Wells Fargo Advisors, and Queen Wendee Close, Mortgage Loan Specialist at CLS Financial, graced the campus of Hopkinson Elementary with their presence during the second session of LAEF’s 9th Annual Summer Enrichment. The pair, both local residents, visited the Let’s Build It class where the children showed the LAEF Royals what they had learned in creating their egg drop projects. STARBASE Los Alamitos celebrated a milestone this spring as both of its Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) teams successfully launched two payload carrying rockets to qualify for a place in the TARC national championship. The challenge tests the knowledge of student rocketeers in a hands-on application of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) for rocket design, construction and flight. Two local youth soccer players, Reed Flores and Devin Torbati, both McAuliffe middle school 8th graders, helped their CDA Slammers soccer club take the U13 title at the recent U.S. Youth National club soccer championships in Frisco, TX. The Slammers advanced to the national tourney via wins at the Southern California flight and then the Western U.S. regionals in Waikiki, HI this past June.
