The Los Alamitos Unified School District on Friday announced the passing of Weaver School Principal Dr. Robert Briggerman, from heart failure.
Briggerman was diagnosed with a serious heart condition in November, noted Los Alamitos Superintendent, Dr. Sherry Kropp. “He had periods of time in which he was getting better. Unfortunately, he took a turn for the worse this week. ” Briggerman was hospitalized at Long Beach Memorial where he passed away on Thursday night.
“This is a devastating loss for our entire Los Al family,” continued Kropp. “He was our dear colleague and friend, and we will miss him greatly. We are still in shock and beyond heartsick.”
According to the district , Briggerman began his career as a Spanish teacher at LAHS, was an assistant principal at McAuliffe, and a principal at Lee. For the past three years, he was the Principal at Jack L. Weaver Elementary School in Rossmoor. The community sends it condolences to his family.”
Under “Doctor B’s” guidance, Weaver continued its tradition of excellence. In 2017 it was again honored as a National Blue Ribbon School for raising achievement levels of all students. It also posted scores that exceeded state standards in English Language Arts, and math, placing Weaver at No. 3 in California in both areas.
On weekends he also did sideline work as a hair stylist at Hush Salon, and over the years cut the hair of many of his former co-workers and district officials.
When his passing was posted on the Event-News-Enterprise site, it produced a number of heartfelt comments from past Weaver parents and co-workers which can be viewed blow.
