Economy begins to reopen as Los Al welcomes new hotel
More than 60 local officials and well-wishers turned out to welcome a new Fairfield by Marriott business hotel to the city of Los Alamitos this week.
“It’s been a long process,” said General Manager Sam Kishor, “but it is really good to finally be opened to the public.”
Local officials were also happy to see a new business opened in the city as they gathered to cut the ribbon during its grand opening ceremony this week.
Shops at Rossmoor steps in to help LAHS Dance Team
In another example of the community coming together during this pandemic, the Shops at Rossmoor, and the Rossmoor Homeowners Association, with others, will present “Thorns and Roses,” a spring performance by the Los Alamitos High School Dance team on Friday, March 26..
According to Jo Shade, Chairwoman of the RHA Special Events Team, the Shops at Rossmoor will provide the space and pop-up drive-in theatre for the Drive-In audience to park and enjoy the show which was created by LAHS Dance teacher Rikki Jones and choreographed by Jones, Krystal Fight, Kylie Moy and Cameron Sparrevohn.
Shade was aided by her RHA teammates Art Remnet, Marion Last and Tim Weidenkeller and she thanked the Los Alamitos High School Dance Boosters Family, including Renee and Scott Schwartz, The Shops at Rossmoor, Los Al TV, Larry Strawther and Ralph’s Supermarket, Seal Beach.
Hollar hones her craft; named LAE “Hero of the Heart”

Tempered by trade winds, Grenada, a tropical island off the coast of Venezuela is where PTA president Brittany Hollar of Los Alamitos Elementary (LAE) School celebrated her 10-year wedding anniversary. Hollar won the trip after appearing on a 2016 episode of The Price is Right.
High tech fire fighting aircraft now housed in Los Alamitos
A new Information Assessment and Awareness Aircraft (IAA) is now stationed at Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos as another groundbreaking strategic partnership with Orange County Fire Authority to combat wildfires in the state.
The specially outfitted Beechcraft King-Air is filled with high-tech equipment able to transmit real time images and video to firefighters on the ground, said Fred W. Burris, Air Tactical Group Supervisor for the OCFA.
Burris said there are two IAA aircraft in the fleet, with one stationed in Sacramento for NorCal and the one now stationed at JFTB in Los Alamitos.
