You could feel the excitement in the air at Jack L. Weaver Elementary school last Wednesday. Students, parents, teachers and staff filled the Rossmoor campus, exuding an energy that matched the sunshine of the summer morning.

Seal Beach Lifeguards retrieve lost prosthetic leg
Last Thursday, Aug. 5, a visitor from Oregon was in Seal Beach to get her prosthetic leg fitted.
Then she somehow lost it while swimming near the pier. “The prosthetic leg is made out of carbon fiber and titanium which does not float,” wrote Seal Beach Marine Safety Chief Joe Bailey in an email.

Council shifts gears on head-in parking

Seal Beach seeks board members for new Historic Resources Foundation
Seal Beach officials this week began taking applications for members to the newly formed Seal Beach Historic Resources Foundation. The City Council would appoint the first five board members for the non-profit entity. The deadline to apply is Friday, Aug. 27. “You do not have to be a resident of the city or a resident of a particular district,” said District One Councilman/Mayor Joe Kalmick during this week’s City Council meeting.
The council is scheduled to appoint the directors at the Sept. 13, City Council meeting.
