Emperors kick off Concerts in the Park
Concerts in the Park are returning to Seal Beach, with four shows scheduled this summer at the base of the pier. The schedule kicks off on July 21, with The Emperors. The Emperors bill themselves as a classic rock band, but they will perform hits from the ’50s up to contemporary music.

Rachel Fattal returns to Olympics
Seal Beach native, and Los Al HS alum, Rachel Fattal will be in Tokyo for the Olympic games in late July, once again as a member of the USA Women’s Water Polo Team. As in 2016, and she’ll be playing attacker for the defending gold medal champs.
Fattal, who attended Los Altos Brethren School in Long Beach, McAuliffe Middle School, and Los Alamitos High School, was a four-time 1st Team All-American at UCLA before joining the national team. [more]
Griffins volleyballers earn all-league honors
As befitting their first-place finish in the Sunset Conference’s Wave League, several members of the Los Alamitos HS Boys Volleyball team earned post-season honors, led by junior Noah Roberts who was named the League MVP.
Joining him on the First team All-League squad were fellow juniors Beck Weber and Aidan Schulten. Named as second-team all-league were seniors Justin Kim and Gio Paduano.
Scouts retire U.S. Flag at CPE Fourth of July celebration
The College Park East Neighborhood Association held a scaled-down Fourth of July celebration at Heather Park this year. While the neighbors were unable to have their family barbecue and bike parades, there were pre-packaged snacks and water available for the kids. Main Street crafter, businesswoman is a local gem

Every day at 10:30 a.m., Parkes, 35, lays out a vast array of crochet wares, a bench in front of a local diner known as The Hangout on the corner of Main Street. For up to five hours, she claims this prime boardwalk real estate to sell her handmade goods.
