Los Al Chamber installs new board, officers in “gala” style

By David N. Young – The Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce took somewhat of a risk this year in bringing back an annual “gala” event to honor its businesses and community members and, by most accounts, it went so well many are already thinking about how to make it better next year.

Los Al Unified seeks members for Human Relations Task Force

The Los Alamitos Unified School District is seeking community members, school parents and staff willing to serve on its new Human Relations Task Force, set up after a series of meetings with a diverse ad-hoc focus group of members of the Los Al District community.

Schedule of public tours released by Joint Forces Training Base

Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) announced the dates for its 2019 public base tour program. The Dates include February 21, May 16, August 16 and November 21. Tours are scheduled on Thursday afternoons and get underway at 1 p.m. from the installation’s Military and Veterans Services Center (Building 244) located just inside the JFTB main gate on Lexington Drive. Participants taking the tour should plan for approximately three hours.

County of Orange reports first influenza-related death of season

Orange County’s Health Care Agency (HCA) has confirmed Orange County’s first influenza-related death in a person under 65 years of age this season — an adult female resident of Santa Ana who had underlying health conditions.

Upcoming Army aviation training to include night operations

A U.S. Army aviation unit from Hawaii will conduct night flight operations at Los Alamitos Army Airfield from Jan. 14 thru Jan. 31. The unit is staging at LAAAF while supporting soldiers training at the National Training Center near Barstow.
