Two former Los Al Griffin standout athletes have been named to national rosters related to the upcoming Pan -American Games.
The US national women’s water polo team roster for the Games again includes Seal Beach’s Rachel Fattal. Fattal, a 2011 graduate of Los Alamitos High School, was an All-American at UCLA and a key member of the 2016 Olympic gold medal-winning squad.
Also making a Pan-Am roster — this one for women’s volleyball — was Justine Wong-Orantes (LAHS ’13). She was named to the roster for the upcoming Pan-American Cup, which is a qualifier for Pan Am Games volleyball competition in early August. Wong-Orantes, who shared time as setter with Fattal on the Griffins 2010 CIF championship squad, later was an All-American and national NCAA champ at Nebraska, and has played with the National team for the last two years.
The Pan-Am Cup runs from July 6-July 14, and the Pan-Am Games begin in August in Lima, Peru.
USA Women’s Water Polo Announces 2019 Pan American Games Roster
IRVINE, Calif. – USA Women’s National Team Head Coach Adam Krikorian has announced the roster for the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru this August 4-10. Eleven athletes were selected for competition marking the first time Team USA has fielded a reduced roster since the announcement of a roster size reduction for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
