The Los Al Griffins season came to a  sudden, although not surprising, end on Friday night as they fell to the favored St. John Bosco Braves 63-38, in the CIF-SS Division 1 football quarterfinals.

The Braves, seeded No. 2 in the playoffs, used their explosive run game to score eight of their nine touchdowns, and their solid defense did enough against the high-powered Griffin offense. Los Al was seeded No 7.

The Griffins got on the board first, but St. John Bosco almost immediately tied it up, setting a pattern that any Los Al scoring drive was immediately countered by a quick Bosco score. Unfortunately for Los Al, some of their drives were stopped without scores, while Bosco “countered” with even more scoring drives.

Los Alamitos quarterback Malachi Nelson completed 11 of his 24 pass attempts for 196 passing yards and four touchdowns. Receiver Makai Lemon had nine receptions for 180 receiving yards and three touchdowns including an impressive 79-yard catch in the second quarter.

The Orange County Register has the complete story.  And below is a video highlight from MaxPreps.
