Former Griffin golfing great Esther Lee (LAHS ’13) , now a senior at the University of Colorado, did something Monday that only one women’s college golfer had done before.
Lee carded a 61 Monday to tie Mariah Stackhouse’s NCAA women’s golf record.
“I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun playing a round of golf because everything was so easy and I just was having so much fun,” Lee said.
Lee’s score came on the par-72, 6,317-yard University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M. She started her round on the par-4 17th hole and birdied her opening three holes. Her 11th and final birdie came on her last hole, the par-3 16th.
