Junior quarterback Malachi Nelson threw for 340 yards and six touchdowns as the visiting Los Alamitos Griffins downed winless Fountain Valley 56-7 last Friday night at Huntington Beach High School.
The win improved their Sunset League record to 3-0 and 7-1 overall. The Griffins return to Huntington Beach High to take on the HB Oilers this Friday, and then finish their league season with thir Homecoming Game against Newport harbor next week.
Fountain Valley (1-7, 0-3) has lost seven in a row.
Girls Volleyball:
Los Al Girls Volleyball team will take on Cypress in a first-round match for the CIF-Southern Section Division II playoffs at Cypress on Tuesday. Cypress tied for first in the Empire League with a 17-3 record. The Griffins (17-17_ qualified as an at-large berth from the Sunset League. The winner will advance to play No. 4 seed La Salle (22-4), champions of the Del Rey League.
