Los Alamitos 61, Sage Hill 41: The Los Al Boys Basketball team picked up its first win of the season, downing Sage Hill 61-41in the first round of the Beach Bash Tournament at Corona Del Mar.
The Griffins were led by Kevin Kane, a 5-foot-9 junior guard, who scored 33 points. Sophomore Everett May added 10 points and Junior forward Dave Olcomendey had 7.
Los Al completes pool play on Wednesday with a match against Pacific Christian.
The Los Al Girls soccer team scored three second half goals to erase a 2-0 halftime deficit and beat Millikan 3-2 at Los Al High. The Lady Griffins, who are now 2-0 on the season, return to play today against Northwood, in a contest that also counts as a first round match for the Aliso Cup. The Griffins were the tourney champions last year.

Boys Soccer: Laguna Hills 3, Los Al 2
Despite building up a 2-0 first half lead behind goals by Louie Arellano and Adrian Alcazar, the Los Al Boys socccer team fell to Laguna Hills in the Governors Cup final of the Aliso Cup. The Griffin finished the tournament with a 2-2-1 record. Next up on their schedule is a match at Paramount next Monday (and immediately after head over to Wahoo’s to help out their fundraiser.)
