The Los Alamitos Griffins Girls volleyball squad put up a valiant effort against Redondo Union, the 5th ranked team in the nation, but the Seahawks talent proved too much to overcome and the Seahawks left the Los Al gym with a 3-0 sweep Thursday afternoon. (25-20, 25-18, 25-21).
The Seahawks were led by consensus pre-season All America Kami Miner, a junior setter who also plays for the US Youth National team. Minre led Redondo to the Division I finals last season, where they fell to Mater Dei.
Abby Karich led Los Al with 10 kills, Jacinda Ramirez had nine digs , and Lauren Given and Allie Livinsgton both had 11 assists.
FOOTBALL: Griffins take on Torrey Pines at 7:15
Los Al plays Torrey Pines tonight at 7:15 in San Diego. The broadcast crew is apparently traveling to San Diego. Pre-game show on the Griffin Football Internet begins at 6:45.
