The Los Alamitos Police Department will ask the city council to approve the purchase of 12 automated license plate readers to help combat the city’s rising rate of property crimes, including auto and catalytic converter thefts. City councilmembers will vote on the program at this Monday‘s monthly meeting.
If adopted, the city will enter a one-year pilot program with Flock Safety, a developer of public safety operating systems, for a cost of $33,000.
