Rossmoor Grads Parade (From OurRossmoor.com.)

The third edition of the RHA Rossmoor Graduation Parade went off very well this past Saturday.  With Covid on the wane (although not gone), the number of cars was down (over 200), but the number of participating grads and parents was up (850 participants) — obviously more participants per vehicle than in previous years.

Hundreds of friends and neighbors and well-wishers once again lined the streets along the parade route and while there were a few unplanned detours along the way (sheriff’s department officials got to do a better job of reading the maps, just saying), the feedback from the (soon-to-be) graduates was amazing.

Our Rossmoor.com (the official and reliable voice of the Rossmoor Homeowners Association) has the complete story and lots of photos.  And just in case you haven’t done so, you can upload your own photos here. Share the celebration.

Los Alamitos Gets Poor Grade in new campaign finance report

The OC Register reported today that Seal Beach got an A and Los Alamitos a D  and Cypress an F in a new report card recently issued by Citizens Take Action, a good-government nonprofit which looks at local campaign finance laws and public access to campaign finance records which shows who is funding who.

Los Al and Cypress are not alone in its showing on the report — 12 of Orange County’s 34 cities couldn’t manage to surpass a C.   Per the report Los Al came up short in its lack of laws limiting contributions from developers and political action committees (PACs) , and in the transparency and thoroughness of its campaign finance data.

Eight of them face-planted rather spectacularly with solid Fs: Buena Park, Cypress, Fullerton, La Habra, La Palma, Mission Viejo, Tustin and Villa Park.

Seven cities received A grades:  Dana Point, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods and Seal Beach
