Nathan Berger, who has previously played and coached basketball at Los Alamitos, has been hired as the new Griffins coach.

Berger, who graduated from Los Al in 2009, played for former coach Russ May and was the team captain in his senior year of 2008-09 when the Griffins went 27-2.  He was also a long-time assistant coach for Eddie Courtemarche, who recently stepped down after 11 seasons as head coach to take the job as the Assistant Principal for activities.

Most recently, Berger, 30, was the head coach at Millikan in Long Beach for two seasons and was also an assistant coach at Los Alamitos and Cerritos College with his former head coach, Russ May.

Berger grew up in Rossmoor and was definitely no stranger to the Griffin gymn, having played many years of Los Al National Junior Basketball, usually coached by his father, Mark Berger, who recently passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.
