The Orange County registrar has certified the results of the California Super-Tuesday primary and some familiar faces will continue on in local contests. \
IN the 48th Coastal House District, incumbent Harley Rouda will be facing Republican OC Supervisor Michelle Steel in November’s general election. Rouda had 46.7% of the primary vote, followed by Steel with 34.9%.
In the 72nd State Assembly District which includes Los Alamiutos, Seal Beach and Rossmoor, former state senator Janet Nguyen will face Garden Grove Councilwoman Diedre Nguyen (no confusion on this ballot) who came from behind to narrowly defeat incumbent Assemblyman Tyler Diep. Diedre Nguyen, a Democrat, received 25.5% of the primary vote, while Diep (R-Westminster) received 24.8%. Janet Nguyen (R-Fountain Valley) grabbed the top spot with 33.8%.
