Wayne Byerley joins Los Alamitos as new Support Services Captain

The Los Alamitos Police Department has hired Wayne Byerley as our new Support Services Captain. Captain Byerley was appointed as the Support Services Captain and began work on Feb. 24, 2020.

Before joining the Los Alamitos Police Department, Byerley served 32 years with the Orange County Sheriffs Department. During his tenure with the Sheriff” s Department, he held the ranks of Deputy Sheriff, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain.
Byerley also worked at OCTA police services, and was a member of the Orange County Urban Search and Rescue Team, and Task Force 5 with his K9 partner Blitz.

As a law enforcement manager, Wayne served as a Division Commander overseeing operations for the Sheriffs Professional Standards Division, Airport Police Services at John Wayne Airport, and the S.A.F.E Division which handles risk management, policy development, return to work, strategic planning, and internal affairs.
The Los Alamitos Police Department is looking forward to having Captain Byerley as a part of our family. A ceremonial swearing-in and badge pinning will be scheduled and announced at a date to be determined.
