Seal Beach selects new City Clerk

The city of Seal Beach has selected Gloria Harper as the new City Clerk, replacing Robin Roberts who stepped down last month, according to a statement issued by the city government. Harper’s appointment will become effective Monday, Jan. 28.

Celebrating the Art of Autism

Bogart’s Coffee House hosted The Art of Autism, on Jan. 16, showcasing art by artists on the Autism spectrum. The event displayed pieces by artist, from beginner to professional, including two children who were participating in their first exhibit.

Despite the rain, the event had good attendance and seven pieces were sold. JoAnn Adams, owner of Bogart’s donated the use of her shop for the event.

Out of Africa into Jessica Ridgeway’s heart

By David N. Young – It’s a world away, yet a Los Alamitos High School senior has taken a bond of gratitude out of Africa into her very own heart.

Although the remote African country of Kenya is nearly 10,000 miles from relatively small city of Los Alamitos, the inspiration of Jessica (Jessie) Ridgeway shows how quickly the yearning of human hearts can overcome any measure of distance.

Philharmonic Society donation supports music at McGaugh

The Seal Beach Committee of the Philharmonic Society of Orange County (PSOC) recently presented a $1,000 donation to McGaugh Elementary School to support its music education programs.

The check was presented by Committee President Louise Dubos during McGaugh’s 2018 Christmas Concert. The concert was well attended, including McGaugh Principal Roni Ellis and Music Director Topher Von Kollen, who were both excited to get this donation.
