Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce introduces inaugural Car Cruise

The Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce is preparing for its inaugural Vintage Car Cruise. Organizers hope to make this an annual event in addition to the classic (and iconic) car show. For its inaugural Seal Beach Vintage Car Cruise logo, the Chamber selected a 1962 Plymouth Valiant to represent the courage and determination of local businesses over the past year.


Community bids Chi Kredell farewell

With a crowd of over 250 persons, Seal Beach said goodbye to longtime resident Ronald “Chi” Kredell on Sunday morning, March 28, with a memorial service, and celebration of life, followed by a paddle out. The Los Angeles Fire Department provided bagpipes and a Color Guard. A fireboat saluted him during the paddle out. The U.S. Navy provided an honor guard. A truck from Station 38 was present to represent his last assignment with LAFD. Both the Navy and the Fire Department presented flags to the Kredell family in honor of his service.


Foley sworn in to 2nd District OC Board of Supervisors seat

Having won a special election to fill the remainder of Congresswoman Michelle Steel’s seat, Supervisor Katrina Foley has taken the oath of office for the 2nd District for the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

Foley was sworn in at noon on March 26, at the Hall of Administration in Santa Ana. The Oath of Office was Administered by Superior Court Judge Karen L. Robinson, with Supervisor Foley’s family, key staff members attending.


Los Al Unified opts to stay in hybrid learning for now

After getting feedback from families and staff, the Los Alamitos Unified School District has decided to stay in a hybrid learning model at its nine campuses for the remainder of the current school year which ends in June.

Full-time instruction is planned for the next academic year which begins in August.

“We are pleased to announce our plan is to resume a full-day, traditional in-person instructional model at all elementary, middle and high schools for the 2021-22 school year,” LAUSD Superintendent Dr. Andrew Pulver wrote in a message emailed to families and staff on Tuesday.


Local (Young) Legends live concert kickoff

On Sunday, March 28, Glory Days Beachside Grill held the very first Local (Young) Legends Live! concert to a large turnout. The restaurant was brimming with life and laughter, and the speakers were alive with the sounds of the local community’s talented youth.
Local Legends Live! Is the brainchild of Coach Art and Lisa Landau, members of the local community with a passion for the performing arts and the local youth. “We want to showcase our local youth,” says Lisa, “Whether they’re in middle school, high school, or college, they deserve a platform to be heard by the community.”
