60 Years Ago Today- John Glenn departed NAS Los Alamitos on record setting flight

The Marine Corps pilot flew from Los Alamitos, Calif., in 3 hours, 23 minutes, 8.4 seconds, beating by nearly 22 minutes a mark set in 1955.
