Former Huntington Beach Oiler star Maya Kennedy will become the Los Alamitos Griffins new basketball coach next year, replacing Rich Alvarez, who resigned following the 2018-19 season in March. Alvarez coached the Griffins for five years and finished with a record of 110-36 and won four Sunset League titles.
Kennedy, who has been an assistant coach at Vanguard the last few years, will also teach English at Los Al.
Los Alamitos announces new girls basketball coach
Los Alamitos announced Monday that Maya Kennedy will take over as the Griffins’ new girls basketball head coach. Kennedy replaces Rich Alvarez, who resigned following the 2018-19 season in March. Alvarez coached the Griffins for five years and finished with a record of 110-36 and won four Sunset League titles.
