The Los Alamitos Girls Soccer team continued its scorched earth path through the early Sunset Conference play by trouncing Laguna Beach 6-0 Tuesday night at the Los Al Stadium.

Sophomore Tabitha LaParl and Colby Barnett each scored two goals. LaParl, the leading scorer in Orange County with 21 goals, now has 38 in her career, moving her into sole position of third place on the Griffins all-time scoring list. She trails only Liz Willemse (LAHS 1991, 52 goals) and the 51 by Sophia (Bo) Medina’s (LAHS ’06).

LaParl got Los Al on the board in the 14th minute. Two minutes later, when the keeper bobbled a shot by Barnett, Jayden Newkirk alertly poked it in for a 2-0 lead, which held up to halftime.

Eight minutes into the second half Barnett scored again, with a one-touch redirection of a pass to the far post from 30 yards out. On the ensuing kick-off LaParl alertly stole the pass on Laguna Beach’s kicks off and dribble down the field to score and make it 4-0.
Four minutes later, in the 53rd minute, Analisa Gjonovich made the Breakers pay for a bad clearing kick, banging it in from distance to make it 5-0. Espi Logan finished off the socring in the 62md minute scoring off a chip pass from Nicole Barham.

JVs also roll, down Laguna Beach 8-0.

The JV Girls, which had been playing well but having troubles scoring, seems to have solved that issue, registering an 8-0 win over Laguna Beach.

WRESTLING: LA Times notes Griffins could be challenger to always tough FV

We don’t get much wrestling news submitted to us and it is hard to find anything about them on the internet so we’re happy to come across anything. The LA Times did a Sunset League preview and noted that perennial power Fountain Valley, winner of seven straight league titles, could see its main challenge coming from the Griffins.

The Times noted that Los Alamitos won their Surf League opener against visiting Marina 49-30 on Dec. 19, and are currently ranked eighth in Division 3.
