Projecting a large deficit, Los Alamitos is asking residents about potential taxes

With rising unfunded pension costs and state unfunded mandates being the big reason, almost every city in California is facing very challenging financial times over the next ten years.  The City of Los Alamitos, trying to be ahead of the issue, is undertaking a five meeting outreach plan to get citizen input on what city services to trim, what taxes to consider,

City officials held their first meeting on Wednesday night, before a crowd of ten residents and an almost equal number of city officials and staff.  The OC Register’s Susan Goulding has the story.
