More than six months after going into escrow, Paul Dunlap, president of Dunlap Property Group of Fullerton , confirmed he has completed the $2.1 million purchase of the venerable Bay Theater on the 300 block of Main Street in Seal Beach, according to Greg Mellen of the OC register.
Dunlap has already hired a theater manager with much experience with restoring and reviving old theaters and has met with community groups regarding potential acts for the venue. After some self-imposed delays to re-figure some necessary improvements, Dunlap has also filed an application with the city’s Planning Commission for a conditional use permit, required to start working on the building and beginning operations, he said.
But he said the encouragement and support he’s received from the city and community convinced him to press forward.
He has also already made arrangements with some merchants across Pacific Coast Highway to arrange for additional parking in the evening hours and is looking into building a rooftop area that could host receptions and small gatherings.
