Seal Beach community gathers to remember the fallen

Seal Beach residents gathered in person in Eisenhower Park to commemorate Memorial Day 2021. Volunteers passed out flags to the individuals who gathered to mark a solemn Monday, May 31.  It was the first time in two years since people gathered in the park to honor the memories of those who gave their lives in service to the nation.

Congresswoman Michelle Steel was one of the speakers. Her son-in-law is a Naval officer. “We have to remember these men and women who lost their lives, who sacrificed their lives, to defend our freedom,” Steel said.


Seal Beach’s Rick Foster appointed to county development board

Newly elected Orange County Board of Supervisor Katrina Foley has appointed Rick Foster of Seal Beach to the Development Process Review Board. Foster was scheduled to be sworn in Tuesday afternoon, June 1. Foster will represent the Second District as a committee member helping to shape and make policies that affect unincorporated lands of Orange County. SB City Council looks at projects

The Seal Beach City Council will look at the Seal Beach budget for 2021-22 on Monday, June 14.  Based on council member comments during a recent budget workshop, the future of the community pool project is unclear, though staff is apparently committed to a public outreach effort before making recommendations to the council. Public Works Director Steve Myrter said another feasibility study is needed for the current swimming pool. (The last McGaugh Elementary Pool feasibility study was dated September 2008.) Staff is also committed to public outreach on a possible restaurant at the end of the pier.

A young man continually parks his truck and trailer in front of our house, which has a long curb.
