Old Town Chili Cook-off returns to SB on Saturday

Devour, Seal Beach’s Old Town Chili Cook-off returns for its sixth year on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 2 to 5pm. 17 Main Street (and then some) restaurants are participating. They include 320 Main, Kai To Shushi, Thai on Main, Avila’s El Ranchito, Glory Days, Bistro St. Germain, Walt’s Wharf, O’Malley’s on Main, Clancy’s, The Hangout, The Irisher, Beachwood B-B-Q, Crema Café, Seal Beach Grill, Taco Surf, The Still Life Tattoo and defending champion, The Abbey. The Champs will be announced at Hennessey’s at 5pm. Proceeds go to “Be The Good” which distributes them deserving community causes.

Frank Jacinto: Legend of ‘a good community guy’

Frank Jacinto passed away in November 2018, but left behind a lot of great Seal Beach stories – going back to the 1960s and his work on the Apollo program which put a man on the moon and Seal Beach in the headlines, and as a Seal Beach reserve police officer. Ted Apodaca writes a nice profile.

Seal Beach City Council OKs new tree trimming contract

The Seal Beach City Council approved a new tree maintenance agreement with Brightview Tree Care, which beat out two competitors with a bid of $294,550.

What’s New at 2nd and PCH In Long Beach?

2nd and PCH, the Southland’s newest shopping center, is scheduled to open in October and new tenants at the 22,000 square foot facility will include Whole Foods Market, Sephora, Free People, Ola Mexican Kitchen, Tocaya Modern Mexican, Linne’s Boutique and Chase Bank. In addition to its dining, financial, retail and fitness destinations, the facility will have WiFi, fountains, indoor and outdoor dining in a casual setting overlooking the 1600p bats docked at beautiful Alamitos Bay and Long Beach Marina.

Council members look forward to year ahead
