VOICE OF OC: Seal Beach City Council Repeals COVID-19 Commercial Eviction Ban

Seal Beach officials have repealed the city’s commercial eviction moratorium, with council members and city staff in agreement that it is no longer needed, in part, because the city is not aware of any major unresolved issues between tenants and landlords.

The City Council voted unanimously in late September to approve an ordinance, lifting the city’s commercial eviction moratorium that had been in place since early April 2020, in the early stages of the pandemic.  City staff presented updates that concluded that no recent reports have shown a need for a citywide ban.  The Voice of OC has the complete story.
