City Goal: making Seal Beach into a ‘destination hub’

His half-serious marketing pitch was met with laughter by fellow council members and city staff at the March 13 meeting, but promoting Seal Beach to visitors is actually serious business to him and other city leaders.  Read more

Seal Beach Police Department growing: three officers to be hired

The Seal Beach Police Department is hiring three new officers and launching new “Community Oriented Policing” teams. Money from Measure BB, the 1-percent sales tax increase passed by voters last November is what is making it all possible, according to Interim Police Chief Joe Miller.  Three new officers are due to be hired on March 25 and will undergo up to six weeks of training. Chief Miller said the new officers are lateral hires, meaning they come from other law enforcement agencies in Orange County.  Read more

Spaghettini sizzles with a homegrown recipe for success

Second of two parts  – Before the break of dawn on St. Patrick’s Day, as most people enjoy the quiet wonder of early Sunday morning, the crew at Spaghettini is already stirring.  In a few hours, the first of 400 guests will begin arriving from all corners of the nation for brunch, just as they have each Sunday for the past 18 years.  And, although they are enjoying their 32nd successful year in business, owners Laurie Sisneros and Cary Hardwick are up early too, working alongside the staff.  Read more
